Fantasy Football

The fantasy football league I’m in, the NFL Waterboys, held our 3rd annual draft this past weekend. Fantasy leagues are an interesting cultural phenomenon to me. They’re wildly popular; I think because they bring people together (create community) and allow fans to “participate” more fully in the games. For me, it’s taken a sport that I’d almost quit watching (the NFL), and sparked my interest, at least in individual players. The beauty of it is that it changes the way you watch the game. You pull for (and against) individual players and outcomes, often changing during the game. Easy for me to see why it’s so popular.

Much more to come later as I track my team’s march to the championship.

Tom, Bill, Jeff, DJ, Garrett, Josh, Rob, Brian, and Marshall: thanks for providing an interesting diversion and for all the entertainment.
